Assembly Line

A manufacturing process in which the product is assembled step by step by moving it from one workstation to the next workstation in a defined sequence. At each workstation, parts, components, and subassemblies are added until the final assembly is produced. As the assembly line is the most important manufacturing process, only a lean design will lead to an efficient and profitable process.
